Marian Abboud

Marian Abboud
Born:
Australia
Lives in:
Dhurag Country, Australia

Place is central to Marian Abboud’s practice, not just as a location, but as lived memory, shared ritual and diasporic realities. Residing on Dharug Country in Western Sydney, her work responds to the emotional and political weight of home: where histories are carried, where language shifts, and where identity is negotiated between generations. For Abboud, place is not static—it is inherited, reimagined, and performed.
A multidisciplinary artist working across photography, video, installation, sound, and performance, Abboud draws on her Lebanese-Australian heritage and the experience of growing up in a female-led household to explore the complex intersections of gender, diaspora, and belonging. Her installations are deeply collaborative, often involving her sisters, aunts, and nieces, and use family archives, domestic objects, and embodied gestures to create intimate and expansive installations of diasporic life.
