Super Inday Art

Super Inday Art
“Super Inday Art” is a restorative heARTworks for change as a women-led, process-based psychosocial caregiving beyond bars. Super Inday is the offshoot of Palangga Prison Art; Triple Lockdown Showdown, which started as Freedom in Prison passion project co-founded by Rosa Zerrudo that evolved into a psychosocial support and restorative social enterprise. Since 2014, the artworks produced with the women artists as Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) have been showcased, presented, and exhibited in the country and abroad. The partner institutions involved Iloilo City District Jail Female Dormitory in Iloilo City (ICDJFD) and Iloilo District Jail Female Dormitory (IDJFD), Pototan, Iloilo, and Metro Bacolod District Jail Female Dormitory (MBDJFD).
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Super Inday art project provides a breathing space where women who are seemingly invisible, voiceless, powerless, and marginalised are involved in collective psycho-social care-giving through artmaking as a survival tool kit expressed in their stories of objects, prison theatre, poetry, and spoken word.
This project serves as a creative recovery process during the COVID-19 pandemic breaking barriers and bridging isolation while engaging through Zoom care barter the most vulnerable and marginalized artists in the region, such as incarcerated women artists mothering behind bars in Iloilo and Bacolod City, Philippines. The value of expressive arts transcends pain and trauma into powerful expressions as the PDL’s authentic voice in reclaiming self-worth and rediscovering meaningful collective reciprocity and mutual support.
