Kapwani Kiwanga is Canadian and French, she lives and works between Paris and Berlin. Kiwanga’s work traces the pervasive impact of power asymmetries by placing historic narratives in dialogue with contemporary realities, the archive, and tomorrow’s possibilities. Her practice is research-driven, instigated by marginalised or forgotten histories, and articulated across a range of materials and mediums including sculpture, installation, photography, video, and performance.
Presentation at the 25th Biennale of Sydney was made possible with generous support from Canada Council for the Arts and Trampoline Association in support of the French art scene, generous assistance from French Australian Cultural Exchange Foundation, and assistance from the Embassy of France.
