United States

Daisy Quezada Ureña is a multidisciplinary artist, faculty and Associate Academic Dean at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA. Within her practice she creates ceramic works, installation, and artist’s books that thematically connect to ideas of identity and place in relation to social structures that cross imposed borders. As a Mexican American artist, she is informed by her cultural background bridging the personal to the social, forming a relationship to immigration, gender inequality, labour, and class issues. Using donated garments, she transforms them with porcelain slip, as intimate records of resilience, loss, and the social structures that shape migration and cultural erasure.
