Join us for an evening celebrating Burwood — recently named Time Out’s #1 Coolest Neighbourhood in Australia and #16 Coolest Neighbourhood in the World, and one of the most culturally diverse communities in the country.
Live at the MCA brings the energy, sound and stories of Burwood to the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia through a dynamic program of live performances and interactive experiences. Expect a roving display of Burwood’s drumming cultures and a vibrant line-up of Chinese, Korean and Japanese musicians who weave together traditional practices and contemporary expression and celebrate the connections between old and new. Also discover Burwood’s playful gaming culture through a curated selection of interactive games, inviting audiences to watch, play and participate.
Next Stop Burwood full-experience ticket holders will step aboard a vintage double decker bus for a one-of-a-kind cultural journey through Burwood. On arrival, experience Burwood after dark with a hosted tour and tasting through Burwood Chinatown, followed by an intimate late-night activation in Ford Lane. The night will feature a vibrant mix of local talent across K-pop, pop/rock, world music and DJ sets, with performances by David Ju, DJ D, TODAY&ALWAYS and Bukhu Ganburged.
Curated and led by artists, Next Stop Burwood transforms travel, place and storytelling into a moving cultural encounter.
Come for the MCA experience or the full MCA x Burwood experience, including MCA entry, artist led bus journey to Burwood, Burwood Chinatown tour and tasting and intimate performance in Ford Lane.
