A force to be reckoned with, soul-infused hip-hop and alt-R&B Kenyan-born artist Elsy Wameyo offers a night of spirited performance at White Bay Power Station.
Part of Biennale of Sydney’s Art After Dark series, it’s one of three Friday nights of innovative, left-of-centre music among the ongoing Biennale exhibition and outdoor food offerings, presented by Vivid Sydney.
Elsy Wameyo is a chameleonic artist pouring life’s lessons and experiences into dynamic pieces of art, producing soul-infused hip-hop and alt-R&B praised for its incisive lyrics and impressive production.
2024 brought her to a new creative touchstone, a place of reclamation and self-empowerment – Elsy Wameyo’s debut studio album, Saint Sinner. Stories of aggressive fearlessness and profound boldness are heard on her singles ‘Umva’ & ‘Conquer’ as Elsy battles with inner demons, temptations and worldly voices to find a way back to her guiding spirit.
RIAH is a R&B singer-songwriter from southwest Sydney. She is of Tongan, Fijian, Italian and Aboriginal (Kamilaroi) descent. Her sound is shaped by her heritage and deep love for 90s R&B, inspired by artists like Aaliyah, Selena, and H.E.R. With a strong sense of identity and a deep connection to her roots, RIAH continues to create music that resonates with authenticity and emotion.
Art After Dark transforms into a bold music program unfolding on Friday evenings at White Bay Power Station. Continuing its reputation as a late-night hub for discovery, expect genre-defying performances, immersive sonic environments, and unexpected collaborations, all set within the awe-inspiring industrial architecture of White Bay Power Station.
