The Biennale of Sydney is committed to making our events and digital platforms accessible and inclusive for all.

Physical Events Accessibility

Our exhibitions and programs take place at a range of venues across Sydney, including public galleries, cultural institutions, and outdoor spaces. We work closely with each venue to provide a welcoming experience for all visitors. Where possible, we aim to support:

  • Wheelchair and step-free access
  • Accessible toilets and facilities
  • Seating options throughout venues
  • Assistance animal access
  • Auslan-interpreted and audio-described tours (for select events)
  • Quiet and sensory-friendly sessions

Information about accessibility at each venue will be provided on the relevant event or venue page. If you have specific needs or would like to discuss how we can support your visit, please contact us:

Website Accessibility

We are actively working to improve the accessibility of our website and aim to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standards. While the site does not currently meet all aspects of these guidelines, we are aware of the issues and are working to resolve them.
Current accessibility features include:

  • Semantic HTML and structured headings
  • Alternative text on many (but not all) images
  • A responsive layout for various devices

We acknowledge there is more to be done. If you experience any difficulty using our website, please let us know so we can assist you and where possible improve the site:

Ongoing Commitment

Accessibility is an ongoing priority for the Biennale of Sydney. We are dedicated to reviewing and improving our practices, both online and in person. Your feedback helps guide this work.
