Watch now: “Revive and Resist”, directed by Kieran Satour, is a captivating 35-minute documentary that delves into the creative journeys of 14 of the most visionary First Nations artists from around the globe. As a Visionary Partner, the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain (@fondationcartier) collaborated to commission these artists who crafted extraordinary works for the 24th Biennale of Sydney, ‘Ten Thousand Suns’, a groundbreaking exhibition curated by artistic directors Cosmin Costinaş (@cosmincostinas) and Inti Guerrero (@intiatawalpa). Central to this partnership was the establishment of the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain First Nations Curatorial Fellow, with celebrated artist and Kuku Yalanji man Tony Albert (@tonyalbert) appointed as the inaugural fellow. The documentary highlights the artists unique approaches, cultural legacies, and the profound storytelling embedded in their work, offering an intimate look at how these trailblazers challenge, inspire, and expand contemporary art.

‘As an ephemeral platform for the art of its times, the Biennale of Sydney has always hidden its riches. That was obvious as soon as I embarked on the seemingly straightforward task of chronicling its first fifty years, diving into the archive, where the Biennale’s editions are pinned like butterflies in flight, and talking to those who had conceived, seen, taken part in or made them …’ —Brook Turner, author of Turbulence & Transcendence
Turbulence & Transcendence is a vivid account of the Biennale of Sydney’s first half-century with new insights, interviews and commentary. A limited print run of only 500 copies – secure yours now. $50 from every volume sold via the link in bio will be donated to the Biennale of Sydney. RRP: $299 AUD.

Happy Mardi Gras, Sydney!
With the 47th annual Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade set to take over tomorrow, we look back at the historical involvement the Biennale of Sydney had in last year’s parade.
The legacy of Malcolm Cole lives on through his twin brother, Robert Cole, who honoured him in the Parade, dressed in a replica Captain James Cook costume his brother wore in the 1988 Mardi Gras. This same image was then recreated by artist Dylan Mooney as a 13-metre-tall mural that towered over the Boiler House at White Bay Power Station.
