Biography

Without exaggeration – Vv Pete is the future.

Anyone who has seen her recent shows around Sydney knows she has a trove of explosive, unreleased material which gobsmacked audiences are already learning the lyrics to. With her unique fusion of sharp rap hooks, heavy club beats and global dance music, Vv is forging a genre-bending flavour of Australian rap that is hers alone.

After hyping crowds at venues including Oxford Arts Factory for FBi Radio’s SMACS Fest, supporting Dallas Woods on his national tour and taking over The Opera House for Street University, the Mount Druitt based, Sundanese rapper / singer made waves with her debut single Bussit, out July this year. Released with Sydney-based producer Utility (Snoee Badman, Kobi Spice, Lil Jaye), Vv delivers commanding bars over hard hitting and sub heavy drums, building a next-generation, strip-club anthem asking people to bust down whether they’re at the club or at the bank.

With just one single out, Vv has already cemented herself as one to watch, with her music featured on Ebro In The Morning on Hot 97 (US), a sync on the new Netflix series Heartbreak High and support from local tastemakers including FBi Radio, ACCLAIM, Complex AU, Hau Latukefu / Triple J’s The Hip Hop Show.

With a sharpened flow reminiscent of artists like Stefflon Don, and Lizzo, Bussit is the first in a string of singles slated for 2022, leading into an EP in 2023 that will showcase her one-of-a-kind energy, endlessly witty phrasing, globe-trotting sonic influences and boss-level delivery.
