Ryan Fennis & Voidhood are two artists from Canberra now operating in the Naarm/Melbourne underground. Their latest album EXTENDER pushes the duo’s respective sounds into new territory, pulling in elements of industrial, experimental hip-hop, club and left-field punk – creating an otherworldly sonic experience. It is a reflection on the ‘age of overstimulation,’ drawing from Fennis & Voidhood’s experiences of digital immersion and navigating present-day dystopias. FBi Radio selected it as Album of the Week and wrote “Stretching the limits of electronic hip-hop and industrial club sounds, [EXTENDER] mirrors the ever-increasing rapidity of music culture, online worlds, and dystopic creep…As much as EXTENDER is a struggle with a world slipping increasingly out of control, it is also a show of valiance, of extending beyond oneself to create something better.” Fennis & Voidhood are members of the burgeoning artist collective and self-described “thriving ecosystem” CONTENT.NET.AU. Representing sounds at the intersection of rap, club and electronic, they are focused on reaching beyond current systems and structures and building community through their music.
