Rose B. Simpson is a mixed-media artist working in ceramic, performance, sculpture and video. Her work explores the intimate and individual complexities that shape experiences of contemporary humanity. In this video work, Simpson explores what it means to be a guest. She considers how the concept carries more weight than simply the act of accepting an invitation; it can even relate to the body we inhabit.

Shaped by and continuing the traditions of generations of tribeswomen from Santa Clara Pueblo, Simpson’s profound visual language embodies centuries of masterful craftsmanship. Both emotional and existential, the artist’s explorations aim to enrich understanding of the interconnectedness between community, land and people. Simpson calls on audiences to contemplate their relationship to an ever-changing environment and the incurring changes in custodial responsibility; she asks us to imagine solutions for a changing world.
