Every expression matters
As part of our local community partnerships across Australia, Nido Early School is celebrating how even our youngest children can communicate through art.
At every Nido Early School, you’ll find an Atelier, our purpose-built art studio where children can work on uninterrupted art projects across a number of months.
Inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, we see children as capable, creative thinkers who express themselves in many ways, the 100 languages of children.
This way of working reflects what we call the Creative Continuum, the understanding that children’s artistic expression develops over time. Rather than focusing on a finished product, we value the process, how children explore, revisit and build in their ideas.
As part of this ongoing commitment to art and expression, Nido is also introducing an artist in residence program across our early schools over the coming months. We are excited to see this first art activation come to life.
Join the painting
At White Bay Power Station, children are invited to contribute to two shared artworks. One inspired by Vincent van Gogh, using bold lines, swirls and movement. The other inspired by Nancy McDinny, a Yukuwal artist, exploring connection to culture, country and storytelling.
By engaging in this work, children are not copying art. They are interpreting it, connecting what they see with what they feel and contributing to a shared piece.
There is no right or wrong way to take part. Just experiment, express and enjoy.
Take creativity home
Each child will receive a mini take home clay kit to continue creating.
