Kuba Dorabialski bridges the worlds of gallery-based video installation and cinema in his practice. This video work follows the fictional story of Agata, a Polish–Australian writer who travels to Sarajevo to work on her new novel about a Bosniak father and daughter hiding in a forest during the Bosnian War in the 1990s. Dorabialski uses the languages of cinema, literature and music to explore how different types of artworks communicate with their audiences. 

Leaning into the idea that all art is political, Dorabialski explores identity, geography and political contexts, probing the responsibilities of artists who choose to engage with historical trauma. Field Report asks who has the right to engage with certain stories and how. 

Field Report is a distillation of Dorabialski’s long-form film, Agata the Writer, which will premiere at the Adelaide Film Festival 2026.
