Formed 2018 in Cape Town, South Africa
Breaking Bread is a multidisciplinary art space that uses food to bring people together and induce cultural dialogue. Through our gastronomy-centred approach and practice, we attempt to create an accessible and shared common ground, uniting literary criticism, sound, performance and visual art to create a community of questioning minds, with an aim of building an alternative cultural infrastructure. As a space that engages in experiments in food, sound, visual and performance art, we aim to address, engage with discussions around cultural, knowledge-generating, historic and power-politic related questions.
